AU Meme: Angst all over the goddamn place

“Would it even mean anything if you did?!” Ian screamed back at him, just as loud and with just as much passion in his voice.
Mickey seemed bothered by the way Ian yelled back at him, but looked away in anger and a little bit of confusion. It would mean everything, he thought, but knew he couldn’t say. 

We stood there in silence for minutes. There was something funny about the way Mickey held the cigarette, almost like he was trying to show how badass he could possibly look. I couldn’t hold back a smirk.

He looked up and found my eyes not so subtly starring right away.

“What the hell are you looking at, Gallagher?” I shook my head and kept silent. After a few seconds, he threw the cigarette away and rolled his eyes. “Fuck’s sake, spit it out.”

“Nothing, it’s just… I like spending time with you.” The words came rushing out before I could even think of stopping it. Fuck! I looked to the floor, knowing that a punch would come at any time now, but there was just silence.

From the corner of the eye I could see Mickey standing in front of me, hands in his pockets.

“Yeah, I guess I like that too…” Mickey mumbled. I looked up, smiling.

We kept facing each other but as soon as I got up, Mickey shook his head and turned around, walking away.

“…Fag.”
